Anthony Bruni was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. He obtained his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Carleton University School of Architecture in 1999 and joined James Colizza Architect in 2000. Over the last decade he has served as the firm’s project architect and in 2011, Anthony became a partner in Colizza Bruni Architecture. His work has won several design awards including two City of Ottawa Urban Design Awards and two Awards of Design Excellence from the Ontario Association of Architects and most recently the OAA People’s choice Award.
His work also embodies the firm’s passion for innovative and evocative design that captures a sense of place along with the importance of detail and attention to how things are put together. Growing up, his summers spent working construction with his mason/builder father, taught Anthony the art of building and “making”. This was and remains his starting point for good architecture.
Anthony continues his connection with the Carleton School of Architecture serving as a studio instructor, guest lecturer, and design studio critic. In line with the firm’s commitment to the importance of urban life, he also serves on the Hintonburg Community Association board of directors and on the City of Ottawa’s Committee of Adjustment.
