The Fairmont Residence is located in a mature inner-city suburban neighbour-hood on a small triangular corner lot. The objective was to create a sculptural landmark that would elegantly “turn the corner.” From an almost acute triangle plan reflecting the lot, the house rises as a modest tower-like form with significant glazing towards a park and a more introverted face on busier Sherwood Street. The home’s elevations, expressed as tightly assembled volumes, are wrapped in a collage of rich mahogany, light reflecting zinc and charcoal stucco.
